Customer Lifetime Value

Customer Lifetime Value is a key metric to your online business.  As I’ve recently received my copy of Russell Bronson‘s DotComSecrets book, I decided to take a read through it yesterday and today.  In the book Russell covers everything you need to know in order to create your own funnel that allows you to put your customers through the value ladder.

Russell BrunsonWhat has stuck with me so far is the Customer Lifetime Value discussion.  What Russell Brunson discovered over time is that each customer in your database is worth $1/month, and he’s not the only one to have come to this conclusion as other Internet Marketers like Ryan Deiss also agree.  The point though is as you do marketing your funnel is set up to spit up more than you’re putting in.  If you’re not, you need to review your funnel.  Now, your breakeven point may not be for a few days of traffic coming through, but your value is increasing every time someone joins your list.

Customer Mailing List

What this should tell you and every marketer is the importance of building your customer mailing list.  Once Russell understood this little fact he went to work on building his mailing list, and he admits getting the first 100-200 members on that list was the hardest part, but once you have a great lead magnet and you start understanding the customer value ladder it becomes so much easier.

In the next few posts, I plan to review some of Russell’s discussions on the importance of building an online business the right way.  He certainly has the experience and the know-how.  For today, I simply wanted to remind you to check your mailing list and confirm whether you’re getting an ROI of $1/customer monthly.  We’ll tackle what it takes to start creating the value necessary to get that kind of return in the first place.
