Your Customer Lifetime Value

Customer Lifetime Value

Customer Lifetime Value is a key metric to your online business.  As I've recently received my copy of Russell Bronson‘s DotComSecrets book, I decided to take a read through it yesterday and today.  In the book Russell covers everything you need to know in order to create your own funnel that allows you to put your customers through the value ladder.

Russell BrunsonWhat has stuck with me so far is the Customer Lifetime Value discussion.  What Russell Brunson discovered over time is that each customer in your database is worth $1/month, and he's not the only one to have come to this conclusion as other Internet Marketers like Ryan Deiss also agree.  The point though is as you do marketing your funnel is set up to spit up more than you're putting in.  If you're not, you need to review your funnel.  Now, your breakeven point may not be for a few days of traffic coming through, but your value is increasing every time someone joins your list.

Customer Mailing List

What this should tell you and every marketer is the importance of building your customer mailing list.  Once Russell understood this little fact he went to work on building his mailing list, and he admits getting the first 100-200 members on that list was the hardest part, but once you have a great lead magnet and you start understanding the customer value ladder it becomes so much easier.

In the next few posts, I plan to review some of Russell's discussions on the importance of building an online business the right way.  He certainly has the experience and the know-how.  For today, I simply wanted to remind you to check your mailing list and confirm whether you're getting an ROI of $1/customer monthly.  We'll tackle what it takes to start creating the value necessary to get that kind of return in the first place.

Russell Brunson's List Hacking Process

I highly recommend you watch the above video on List Hacking by Russell Brunson, and learn more about the importance of building your own list.  He'll show you different ways through which you can build that list by hacking your way into affiliates and other methods.

The Ultimate Few

The First Discipline Of Execution

At the Provision Entrepreneurs Conference I learned about the Five Disciplines Of Execution by Dave Anderson who runs Learn To Lead.  Today, I'll share the first of the 5 and my key takeaways.
Check out my article on The Five Disciplines Of Execution for the complete list.

To reiterate what Dave Anderson said, these disciplines of execution are principles. They are widely transferable.
They are sequential.  They are all in, not either or.  And they are widely applicable.

The First Discipline Of Execution

Here are my 3 key takeaways from the first discipline of execution which says: Focus Fanatically On The Ultimate Few (TUFs).
  1. Where are we?  Where will we be and by when?
    1. Many times we don't look at the destination in mind when executing.  It's important to know our starting point, our destination and a certain time by which we'll get there.
    2. A lot of us get lost on the highway by the distractions along the way.  This is not the intended destination.  Start with the end in mind.
  2. If everything is important then nothing is important.
    1. Such a true principle.  I'm sure you got lost before in looking at everything you had to do during the day and forgot the key essentials.
    2. Darren Hardy mentions the need to focus on the essential few, and to delegate the stuff that is costing you more time and money to someone who's up to the task.  Dave Anderson goes one step further by speaking on the fact that you can only really focus on just a few of those during the day, and you must choose carefully what you think is priority.
  3. Opportunity doesn't equal obligation.
    1. I don't know how often someone came by your office and asked you to join a committee or perform some work that wasn't important to your end results.
    2. Don't think you are obligated to drop everything just to do their stuff.  You must focus and remain steady on what must be created that day.

Dave Anderson - Five Disciplines of Execution

Five Disciplines Of Execution

Provision Entrepreneurs Conference

About a month ago, I was sitting in a meeting in Ohio at the Provision Entrepreneurs Conference at The Now Center run by Gary Keesee.  Here I was receiving revelation and learning more about the Five Disciplines Of Execution by Dave Anderson who runs Learn To Lead.

For the next few days I will delve into each discipline and what I've learned from Dave and how it may apply to your business.

The disciplines will help with Vision, Strategy and Tactical Planning.
First, you need to understand that Execution = Process to get moving.
So, what is the process for executing.
It's a step by step process

The Five Disciplines Of Execution

These disciplines of execution are principles
They are widely transferable
They are sequential.
They are all in, not either or.
They are widely applicable.
So here they are in their order for review in the next 5 days.
  1. Focus fanatically on the ultimate few  (TUFs)
  2. Lead Measures
  3. Keep a scoreboard (Celebrate excellence)
  4. Create a rhythm of accountability
  5. Continue to prune to optimize the results

DVD of The Provision Entrepreneurs Conference

Watch for my next 5 blogs where I'll delve into each of these 5 principles that Dave Anderson shared at the Provision Entrepreneurs Conference.   BTW, I highly recommend you grab yourself a copy of the USB stick that contains these 5 principles along with the entire conference as I could never do justice but can only share my notes and opinions.  Go here to get your own copy of the whole conference.
